Assistant Estimator

Are you looking to build a career in estimating within civil engineering and construction?

We are recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering civil engineering, groundworks, reinforced concrete and infrastructure projects across residential and commercial sectors.

• An Assistant Estimator looking to develop further
• A Graduate with a commercial or engineering degree
• A Quantity Surveying or Commercial Assistant
• A Site Engineer who is keen to move off site into a pre-construction role

If you understand how projects are built and want to be involved earlier in the process, this could be the ideal next step.

• Assist in preparing competitive tenders and cost estimates
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation
• Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Support the preparation of Bills of Quantities and cost plans
• Assist with tender submissions and project handovers

You will gain exposure to a variety of civil engineering and groundworks packages, working closely with senior estimators and commercial managers.

• Background in civil engineering, construction, groundworks or RC frame projects
• Commercial or engineering experience (site or office based)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good IT skills (Excel essential)
• Organised, proactive and keen to learn
