Purpose:
The Transformer Engineer (HV & MV) is responsible for supporting the engineering, technical coordination, and execution of high voltage and medium voltage transformer projects in Singapore. This role provides technical support across the project lifecycle, including design review, engineering coordination, procurement technical clarifications, factory inspection/FAT support, delivery readiness, installation support, testing coordination, commissioning readiness, and final handover documentation. The Transformer Engineer works closely with Project Managers, OEMs, clients, consultants, and internal site teams to ensure transformer systems are delivered in compliance with OEM requirements, Singapore standards, client specifications, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Engineering & Technical Coordination: Support HV/MV transformer projects from engineering phase through to commissioning and handover. Review and coordinate technical deliverables including transformer datasheets, general arrangement drawings, foundation/interface drawings, marshalling kiosk wiring diagrams, protection interface drawings, and auxiliary system requirements (cooling, On‑Load Tap Changer (OLTC), monitoring).
- Design Review & Compliance: Review OEM technical documents and ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC standards, and Singapore utility requirements (e.g., SP Group standards where applicable). Support technical clarifications with clients, consultants, and OEMs during design and execution stages.
- Procurement Technical Support: Support procurement activities including technical evaluation of transformer offers, review of technical deviations, clarification of scope, and coordination of spare parts, special tools, and warranty requirements. Support vendor coordination for manufacturing progress updates and documentation submission.
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) & Factory Coordination: Support transformer factory inspections and FAT activities. Review FAT procedures, witness test execution (where required), and ensure FAT documentation is complete and aligned with contract requirements. Support resolution of FAT punch list items with OEMs.
- Delivery, Installation & Site Support: Provide technical support during delivery planning, offloading, positioning, assembly, and installation of transformer accessories (radiators, conservator, bushings, cooling system, marshalling kiosk). Support coordination of oil handling, vacuum filling, filtration, and drying activities (where applicable). Provide troubleshooting support for site installation issues.
- Testing & Commissioning Support: Coordinate and support Site Acceptance Test (SAT), testing, and commissioning activities. Ensure required test procedures, test records, and acceptance criteria are prepared and complied with. Support coordination with testing teams and OEM engineers for energization readiness.
- Quality Documentation & Handover: Support preparation and closeout of project documentation including as‑built drawings, test reports, inspection records, O&M manuals, spares lists, and warranty documents. Ensure documentation is compiled in accordance with client handover requirements.
- Safety & Compliance Support: Support compliance with company Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, Singapore safety regulations, and client site rules. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and ensure technical work is executed with strong safety discipline.
- Continuous Improvement: Support development of engineering standards, templates, and lessons learned. Contribute to improvement of installation and commissioning procedures to reduce rework and improve quality.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in electrical infrastructure projects involving power transformers.
- Exposure to either 22kV / 6.6kV MV transformers, 66kV transformers, 230kV transformer and experience supporting FAT, delivery readiness, installation, testing, and commissioning activities in Singapore is strongly preferred.
- Good working knowledge of HV/MV transformer systems, drawings, and OEM documentation.
- Ability to coordinate technical interfaces across protection relays, OLTC, cooling systems, and monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures and commissioning readiness requirements for transformers.
