WANO performs as an internal industry community network for open and trusted exchange of information, experience, and knowledge between nuclear operators. Successful applicants will play an active part in supporting this project and improving nuclear safety worldwide.

The WANO London Office is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Trends & Performance Monitoring (TPM) function as an Operating Experience Senior Advisor
.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background in the nuclear industry who is passionate about improving nuclear safety and reliability through high‑quality operating experience insights.

As an Operating Experience Senior Advisor, you will support the Operating Experience (OE) Manager and collaborate closely with colleagues across WANO’s Regional Centres. You’ll play a vital role in analysing industry events, identifying trends, and producing high‑value OE products for our global membership.

In this analysis‑focused and highly collaborative role, you will:

  • 🔍 Review and screen operating experience reports submitted by WANO members
  • 📊 Analyse technical and performance data to identify trends, common causes, and insights
  • 📝 Produce core OE products including SOERs, SERs, Analysis Reports, Hot Topics, JIT reports, and CEO Updates
  • 🛠️ Participate in event investigations to deepen understanding of significant industry events
  • 🌐 Support Regional Centres with workshops, seminars, member support missions, and OE materials
  • 📚 Maintain current knowledge of nuclear operations through training, collaboration, and observation of OE activities
  • 🖥️ Ensure OE guidance and programme materials (e.g., WPG‑02) remain accurate and fit for purpose

We are seeking someone with strong technical credibility and the ability to translate complex nuclear events into clear, meaningful insights for our members.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English (minimum C1 CEFR)
  • Significant experience working in technical roles within a nuclear environment
  • Demonstrated ability to write detailed technical reports in English
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends in performance data
  • Experience contributing to seminars and workshops
  • Ability to collaborate with people from diverse international cultures
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage stakeholders effectively
  • Commitment to WANO’s mission and behaviours
  • Previous experience at a WANO Regional Centre
  • Participation in event investigations
  • Knowledge of WANO performance indicators and OE processes
  • Experience in performance improvement, corrective action, or self‑assessment
  • Advanced analysis skills and familiarity with reactor designs, including CANDU/PHWR

This role offers excellent potential for growth. After demonstrating strong performance, you may progress toward roles such as Operating Experience Manager or, upon returning to your home organisation (if on secondment), senior leadership roles within OE or related functions.

This position is based at the WANO London Office
, with occasional international travel.
