Senior​/Principal HV Design Engineer

Our client, an international leader in engineering and consulting, is seeking a Senior/Principal HV Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in London. This is a contract position within the rail, public transport, and built environment sectors. This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious engineer with strong leadership capabilities and excellent interpersonal skills, aiming to contribute to a high-performance team.

• Develop HV systems, including concept and detailed designs, design reviews, estimations, and provide site supervision/support as needed.
• Provide technical support on all aspects of HV system engineering and design.
• Prepare technical specifications for plant and equipment, power systems, cable routing, tender packages, and progress reports.
• Ensure accurate coordination with other engineering disciplines involved in projects.
• Attend and conduct internal/external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
• Perform technical calculations including TMF, EMF, EMC, and sheath‑induced voltage calculations.
• Conduct design reviews and ensure all project designs comply with CDM regulations and relevant legislation.
• Maintain strong working relationships with clients, designers, team members, and the supply chain.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
• Experience in HV design.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with current membership of IET or CIBSE.
• Understanding of NGET, NETS, RES & BS7671:+A2:+A3.
• Expertise in preparing technical specifications for power systems and equipment.
• Ability to perform technical calculations and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and commercial awareness.

• Experience with UK HV design systems (132kV / 400kV) is preferred.
• Involvement in diverse projects such as data centres, HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, BESS, and more.
• Proven track record within a consultancy, contractor, or utility in the energy sector is desirable.
