About OLIX

AI is growing faster than any technology in history and the explosion in demand has created a massive infrastructure gap; we can no longer build chips or power stations fast enough to keep up. The industry is still leaning on a ten-year-old hardware blueprint that has reached its limit. A new paradigm that is faster and more efficient will be the biggest economic opportunity of the next century and create the most important company of the next decade.

OLIX is building this next paradigm; the Optical Tensor Processing Unit (OTPU) achieves performance and energy efficiency that is impossible to match from existing chips.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Staff High Speed Analog Electronics Engineer to lead the development of precision analog and mixed-signal circuitry critical to the performance of Flux’s Optical Tensor Processing Units (OTPUs). This role is ideal for an engineer with deep expertise in high-speed analog design, signal integrity, and analog/digital integration. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including optical, digital, and FPGA engineers, to ensure high fidelity signal transmission and tight synchronisation across cutting-edge AI accelerator hardware.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, simulation, and development of high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for use in our Optical Tensor Processing Units (OTPUs).
  • Develop and evaluate PCB designs for high-speed analog signal integrity, including layout review and parasitic modeling.
  • Collaborate closely with optical engineers to ensure seamless integration of analog electronics with optical components.
  • Define and implement strategies for signal integrity, power integrity, and noise mitigation in densely packed, high-speed environments.
  • Conduct detailed testing and validation of analog circuits, including lab-based characterisation using oscilloscopes, VNAs, and spectrum/network analysers.
  • Lead the development of test boards and bring-up procedures for prototype and production-level hardware.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of board-level issues related to signal integrity, noise coupling, power delivery, and thermal effects.
  • Guide junior engineers through design reviews, best practices in analog/mixed-signal design, and robust design-for-manufacturability (DFM) approaches.
  • Coordinate cross-functional debug and validation efforts across electrical, firmware, and optical domains.
  • Champion best practices in analog board-level design, validation, and documentation across the organisation; establish and drive adherence to design standards and quality processes.
Skills & Experience:
  • 12+ years of experience in an environment of rapidly prototyping high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuit design, including amplifiers, high-speed drivers, and clocking circuits.
  • Deep expertise in designing with high-speed components (e.g., ADCs, DACs, laser drivers, TIAs) and managing board-level challenges such as impedance control, crosstalk, and noise mitigation.
  • Strong expertise in signal integrity, noise analysis, and analog simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, ADS, HFSS).
  • Proven experience designing and validating analog front-ends for high-speed digital systems (e.g., SERDES, ADC/DAC interfaces).
  • Familiarity with silicon validation methodologies and board-level bring-up of custom ASICs or analog ICs.
  • Experience developing automated test frameworks for analog/mixed-signal validation (e.g., using Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve signal integrity and analog performance issues at the component and system level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field;
    Master’s or PhD preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including digital, optical, and software engineers.
Compensation & Equity
  • Competitive Salary: £162,000 - £198,000, commensurate with your experience, skills, and location.
  • Equity & Ownership:
Meaningful stock options. You’re not just joining the mission; you’re owning a piece of it.
  • Proximity Bonus:
