You will follow the ST0318 Rail Engineering Technician, Traction and Rolling Stock Pathway, combining academic learning with practical experience.
Day Release at College: attend college on a day‑release basis to obtain your formal qualification.

Hands‑On in the Depot- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on CL700 trains.
- Diagnose and rectify complex faults.
- Operate safely and efficiently within a dynamic rail depot environment.

Essential Skills and Attributes- Academic Foundation: at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths and English Language.
- Logical thinking and a willingness to self‑learn and research.
- Proactive and responsible: work independently, safely, and take ownership of challenges.
- Team player: collaborate with others to find innovative solutions.
This apprenticeship is for new talent; you must NOT have completed the following:
- A Level 2 PEO (Performing Engineering Operations)
- A Level 3 Engineering Diploma (BTEC)
- A Level 3 AME (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering)
