Location: Charlton

Join Thames Water as a Reservoir Engineer and play a vital role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our reservoirs and associated structures.

What you’ll be doing as a Reservoir Engineer
  • Undertake inspections of reservoirs and associated assets, producing technical reports and recommendations.
  • Direct remedial works and ensure compliance with engineering‑based regulatory requirements.
  • Provide advice on Reservoir Safety and undertake an appropriate condition assessment and inspection programme.
  • Use the condition assessment programme output to inform short–term remedial works and long‑term investment programmes.
  • Provide an overview of the reservoir and associated asset condition for the business to inform corporate governance processes.
  • Support development of policies, standards, systems and processes in asset condition assessment and give guidance.
  • Review design submissions, drawings and produce check calculations for larger engineering solutions.
  • Manage and develop key stakeholder relationships to improve business performance.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Provide training to others on reservoir design and inspection techniques.

Base location:
Hybrid – Ashford Common (WTW) – TW15 1RU

Working pattern or hours: 36 hours, Monday – Friday

Requirements for the role
  • Valid UK driving licence – frequent travel across the Thames Water patch required.
What you should bring to the role
  • Extensive technical experience in civil engineering, supported by a degree in Civil Engineering or a recognised HNC (or equivalent) in a field related to civil or reservoir engineering.
  • Strong understanding of core concepts and principles within civil engineering, with a basic knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Excellent time‑management skills and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proven people‑management and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
