Mechanical Shift Engineer
Heritage site – Farringdon, Central London
£51,000
4 on, 4 off – days & nights
Alice Rose is currently recruiting a Mechanical Shift Engineer for a leading property services provider based in Central London. This role involves delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance on a technically complex, high-profile heritage site for one of their key clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a stable and growing shift team, working within a professional facilities management and building services environment.
The successful Mechanical Shift Engineer will be responsible for carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant and building services systems, including pumps, fans, plant rooms, VAV systems, FCUs, AHUs, and associated HVAC equipment, ensuring all works are completed in line with contractual SLAs.
Mechanical Shift Engineer Duties:
• Proven track record in mechanical building maintenance within a commercial or complex environment
• Delivery of PPM and reactive maintenance under contractual SLA requirements
• Maintenance and fault finding on FCUs and AHUs
• Pressurisation units
• Strong experience with pumps, seals, and associated mechanical repairs
• BMS head-end monitoring and basic controls interaction
• HVAC plant maintenance
• Exposure to CHP, absorption chillers, vacuum waste/toilet systems, sprinkler systems, generators, and chilled beams is advantageous
• Commissioning knowledge and understanding is desirable
This role offers a salary of up to £51,000 per annum, dependent on experience. The company provides structured training, long-term career progression, and stability within a well-established contract. The position operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern, covering both day and night shifts.

Qualifications:
• Apprentice trained
• Mechanical qualifications – City & Guilds, NVQ Level, or equivalent
• Strong building services and facilities management knowledge
• Proven hands-on experience on a commercial site
