About the Role

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Do you want to do meaningful work that improves your quality of life? At Tetra Tech, you will work with high‑performing teams passionate about finding solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy and international development.

Our Noise, Air Quality, Lighting and Odour (NALO) consultancy team of 30+ multidisciplinary environmental consultants surveys, assesses and advises on a wide range of situations, from small‑scale planning applications to serving as expert witnesses at hearings and inquiries. We typically undertake surveys and then use innovative computer‑based modelling techniques to predict noise, air quality, wind, odour, lighting or daylight/sunlight levels and assess acoustic performance.

Our clients include UK MoD, Sainsbury’s, Amazon (projects in UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland & Egypt), local authorities and transport, retail, housing and commercial building developers.

Our NALO consultancy services include:

  • Air quality
  • Environmental noise and vibration
  • Building acoustics
  • Occupational noise and hygiene
  • Environmental lighting
  • Daylight, sunlight & overshadowing
  • Odour

As a member of the air quality team, you will work on a variety of projects, undertaking surveys, modelling and assessment to determine the potential air quality effects of new developments – from new housing schemes to industrial or commercial sites, educational facilities and major infrastructure. Projects range from small scale to large‑scale construction sites, with a focus on protecting existing residents, future residents of proposed schemes and sensitive ecological species that may be affected by air pollution.

We also model traffic pollution, industrial emissions and odour from varied sources. While the primary focus of this role is to produce air quality assessments, you will also complete environmental surveys, which may involve overnight stays and occasional weekend work.

We are looking to recruit up to Principal level, depending on experience. The successful candidate must have a proven track record in air quality consultancy and be able to provide examples of skills and experience that demonstrate suitability. The role includes reviewing the assessment work completed by the team for quality assurance, project management and line management responsibilities. You should be committed to mentoring and supervising less experienced team members while pursuing your own continuous professional development.

Our team is spread throughout the UK with a flexible approach to location, but you must be able to work in the office at least twice a week. The NALO team is primarily based in Leicester, Manchester, Leeds and London offices.
