We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.
Overviewof the role
To support our strong pipeline of work in and around London and our national Development Consent Order projects, we are looking for an analytical and forward-thinking Transport Planner to join our team, specialising in development planning. As part of this role, you will play a key part in shaping how developments connect with existing transport networks and contribute positively to future mobility solutions.
You’ll work at the intersection of land-use planning, transport policy, and infrastructure delivery, ensuring sustainable and accessible transport links are embedded at the heart of new developments.
You should be confident in:
- Having up to date knowledge of policy, legislation, and technical guidance affecting transport and development
- Assessing the transport impact of proposed developments
- Analysing data on traffic flows, trip generation, and travel behaviour to guide planning decisions
- Preparing and reviewing Transport Statements/ Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and other associated documents
- Providing transport input into Environmental Statements
- Providing advice on sustainable transport solutions and integrating active travel and public transport into development proposals
- Contributing to masterplans, local development frameworks, and spatial strategies
- Liaising with local authorities, developers, consultants, and stakeholders to secure positive transport outcomes
- Supporting planning application reviews from a transport and highways access perspective
- Degree in Transport Planning, Town Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or related field
- Proven experience in transport planning. This could include development control
- Familiarity with tools such as TRICS, junction modelling software (e.g., Junctions 9, Lin Sig), and GIS platforms
- Strong understanding of planning policy frameworks (e.g. National Planning Policy Framework) and local development plans
- Excellent report writing and stakeholder communication skills
- Strong analytical skills (Excel, Power BI etc)
- Some experience of managing transport planning projects including commercials
- Experience of bid writing
- Understanding of strategic transport modelling software, inputs and outputs e.g., Vissim
