Senior Temporary Works Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Temporary Works Engineer (5+ years’ experience) to play a pivotal role in expanding temporary works capability across Glasgow and the North of the UK.
This is a rare opportunity to establish, develop, and lead a new Temporary Works team, work closely with key clients, support business development, and contribute directly to long-term regional growth. Role Overview
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week, flexible start between 8:30am and 9:00am). You will take a senior leadership role within the Glasgow office while supporting temporary works delivery across the North of the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and growth of a new Temporary Works team, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior engineers
Oversee the full lifecycle of temporary works projects, from concept through detailed design to delivery
Ensure designs are safe, practical, and compliant with relevant standards and best practice
Manage the technical and commercial delivery of small, medium, and long-term projects
Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development activities
Identify and help secure new opportunities across Scotland and Northern England
Apply sound engineering judgement, conceptual understanding, and strong visualisation skills
Promote a culture of quality, safety, continuous improvement, and professional development
Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business to deliver coordinated, multi-disciplinary solutions

About You
Essential:
HNC, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in temporary works design
Chartered or actively working towards ICE or IStruct
E chartership
Strong leadership capability, with confidence in mentoring and independent decision-making
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Commercial awareness and confidence managing client expectations
Desirable:
Interest in business development and helping shape regional growth
A proactive, self-motivated approach with a commitment to continuous learning
