Location: Greater London

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking for your next challenge in the energy sector? This is an exciting opportunity to join the Asset Support and Outage Excellence Team, supporting projects, outages, and maintenance across power plants and gas storage facilities. You will work on both established and modern technologies, playing a key role in ensuring energy security while supporting the transition to a sustainable future.

This role can be based from the Midlands downwards to the South East. There will be travel to locations around the country on outages. This is expected for around 3 weeks per year in total.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver projects, outages, and maintenance activities with a strong focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Lead proactive and reactive engineering work, including problem solving, fault finding, and investigations.
  • Define scopes of work and prepare technical and contract specifications.
  • Manage contractors and project teams, ensuring work is delivered to the highest standard.
  • Share best practice across multiple sites to drive performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of health, safety, environmental responsibility, and quality.
Qualifications
  • HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of process plant mechanical systems, including pressure systems.
  • Practical understanding of HSSE legislation (IOSH Managing Safely/NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Experience in maintenance practices, project delivery, and risk management.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to investigate root causes and implement engineering solutions.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
  • SAP system knowledge.
  • Experience with lean tools and root cause analysis.
  • Background in fast‑paced industrial environments.

The role offers overtime after 37.5 hours. Travel will be required for this role.
