Our client is a well‑established, independent multidisciplinary consultancy with a long‑standing reputation for delivering high‑quality environmental, planning and sustainability advice on complex projects across the UK.
With a strong pipeline of work across major infrastructure and urban development, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Environmental Consultant to join their Impact Assessment team within their Climate Change and Sustainability services.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced EIA professional who enjoys working on nationally significant projects and collaborating within a truly multi‑disciplinary environment.
The roleYou will play a key role in delivering environmental impact assessments across a wide range of projects, including transport, energy, water and urban development schemes.
Working alongside environmental, planning, engineering and urban design specialists, you will be responsible for both technical delivery and project coordination, with opportunities to contribute to business development activity.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing and delivering Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects
- Coordinating and reviewing technical inputs from specialist teams
- Preparing EIA screening and scoping reports, Environmental Statements and related environmental reports
- Ensuring compliance with EIA Regulations, policy and guidance
- Managing programmes, budgets and quality assurance
- Liaising directly with clients and key stakeholders
- Supporting bid preparation, proposals and presentations
- Mentoring and guiding junior staff where appropriate
Our client is keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- A degree in an environmental or related discipline (Master’s desirable)
- Strong consultancy experience delivering EIA projects
- Excellent understanding of environmental legislation and impact assessment processes
- Proven ability to manage projects, budgets and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience working in a commercial consultancy environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Desirable experience includes:
- Projects within the energy and/or water sectors
- Experience of the Planning Act 2008 and Development Consent Order (DCO) process
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IEMA or equivalent)
- Chartered Environmentalist status (or working towards)
