Senior Quantity Surveyor - Thames Valley Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor – Hybrid Position:
Quantity Surveyor (Water Works / Heavy Civils / Infrastructure) Rate: £450 per day (Inside IR35 & NO CIS)

Until 2027 Start: ASAP We’re supporting a well‑established civil engineering contractor delivering major water infrastructure and heavy civil engineering packages across a long-term programme in Bracknell.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to take ownership of critical commercial functions on a high-value, multi‑phase infrastructure scheme.

About the Role As the Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial management of several heavy civils and water‑sector packages. Working closely with engineering teams, delivery leads, and the wider commercial department, you’ll ensure strong financial governance, structured reporting, and accurate cost control throughout the life of the project.

Key Responsibilities Manage the full commercial function across water works, heavy civils, drainage, and infrastructure packages. Populate and manage monthly commercial reports, including CVR and DES submissions. Prepare and submit client Applications for Payment (AFP) in line with contract requirements. Lead procurement for key project packages, ensuring compliant and cost‑effective subcontract awards. Assess supply chain AFPs, manage valuations, negotiate variations, and compile detailed final accounts.

Maintain strong cost control, identifying opportunities to drive value and enhance project margins. Mitigate commercial and delivery risks, ensuring alignment with programme and contractual obligations. Maximise cash collection, supporting project cashflow and financial performance. Support collaboration between site teams, engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure commercial compliance and delivery efficiency. Requirements Proven experience as a QS within heavy civils, utilities, water infrastructure, or major civils projects.

Strong understanding of drainage, water works, utilities, and infrastructure-related civils packages. High level of commercial acumen with strong reporting and negotiation skills. Ability to operate autonomously while engaging effectively with project teams. Site-based availability near Bracknell. Eligible to work under CIS. Contract Details Duration:
