We’re partnering with a well-established and growing environmental and water consultancy based in London, who are looking to appoint a Senior Flood Risk & Drainage Consultant to join their highly experienced Flood and Climate Risk team.
The Role
As a Senior Consultant, you’ll play a key role in delivering projects from initial concept through to completion, combining strong technical expertise with client-facing and project management responsibilities. You’ll be involved in a varied workload that keeps things interesting, including:
* Leading and delivering Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), Drainage Strategies, and Flood Scoping Reports to support planning applications
* Producing conceptual and outline drainage designs, incorporating SuDS and best-practice sustainable solutions
* Managing flood risk appraisals for investor, lender, and pension fund clients, assessing all sources of flood risk and providing clear, commercially focused advice
* Liaising with clients, local authorities, and statutory consultees, ensuring smooth project delivery
* Supporting and mentoring junior team members, helping them develop technically and professionally
* Contributing to the growth of emerging service areas such as ESG, climate resilience, and nutrient neutrality
About You
This role would suit someone who enjoys responsibility, takes pride in high-quality work, and wants to continue developing within a supportive consultancy environment. You’ll likely have:
* Around 4+ years’ experience in flood risk and drainage consultancy
* A strong understanding of UK planning policy, regulatory processes, and approval routes
* Experience managing projects and engaging directly with clients
* A proactive, organised approach with the ability to balance multiple deadlines
* Good commercial awareness and confidence working on varied project types
Technical Experience (Desirable)
* Flood risk and drainage reporting for planning and due diligence
* Micro Drainage / Info Drainage or equivalent drainage software
* QGIS or other GIS platforms
* AutoCAD and detailed drainage design experience
* Working towards chartered status with a relevant professional body (or ambition to do so)
What’s On Offer
* Salary up to £60,000, depending on experience
* Full-time, permanent position
* Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
* Clear career progression within a growing water team
* Structured support towards chartership
* Friendly, collaborative team culture
* Opportunity to work on high-profile and innovative projects across the UK
If you’re ready to step into a senior role where your flood risk and drainage expertise will be recognised, developed, and genuinely valued, this is a fantastic opportunity to explore
