About the role
£35‑45k + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
. Mechanical Test Engineer to join a growing design and manufacturing company in southern Hampshire. The company recently received major investment and secured one of its biggest projects to date.
- Develop & carry out short and long‑term tests of composite pipe
- Manage suppliers of test equipment and 3rd‑party test houses to enable efficient execution of test activities
- Lead the development of testing methods and projects (including instrumentation) to facilitate greater understanding of composite pipe structural performance
- Prepare test procedures, analyse test data and write test reports to clearly communicate the objectives, methods and results of test campaigns
- Provide support to Business Development by proposing appropriate testing methodologies to develop solutions for the Oil and Gas Industry
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Knowledge of test methodologies used for composite structures and instrumentation methods
- Good report‑writing skills; familiarity with Solid Works or other CAD packages
- Experience with data processing in Excel, Python or similar software
- Subsea engineering experience desirable
- Experience with high‑pressure testing (2500‑4000 bar) and appreciation of health and safety
- Knowledge of composite materials, bend fatigue rigs, tension/compression testing, strain gauges, thermal‑plastic materials, bespoke high‑load test frames, burst cells, hydrostatic/hydraulic cyclic systems, pressure transducers, material property testing
