As a Robotics Prototype Technician (Assembly / Mechatronics) you’ll be responsible for assembling, reworking, and troubleshooting robotic systems—ranging from subassemblies to full integrated prototypes. You’ll work directly with hardware engineering, systems integration, test, and advanced manufacturing to ensure our builds are executed accurately and efficiently, supporting a fast‑paced R&D environment where every day counts.
Schedule & Location5 days per week, on site at 5 Merchant Square, 5th Floor – SKL Robotics, London, W2 1AS

Hands‑On Assembly & Integration
- Build electro‑mechanical and mechatronic assemblies according to CAD, drawings, and work instructions.
- Perform precise mechanical assembly, harness routing, sensor installation, and connectorization.
- Support first‑article builds, iterations, and rapid design changes.
- Flag issues early and collaborate with engineering to implement fixes.
- Assist in functional testing of subassemblies and full robots.
- Identify and resolve build or performance issues in real time.
- Work closely with test and integration teams to ensure system readiness.
- Follow prototype production processes, including documentation and version control.
- Record issues, improvements, and build feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab and build environments.
- Communicate clearly with engineers, fellow technicians, and operations.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities—jump in wherever help is needed.
- Contribute ideas to improve speed, reliability, and quality of builds.
- 3+ years of experience in prototype assembly, technician work, or low‑rate production of complex systems.
- Proven ability to work with mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems
—ideally in robotics, aerospace, or automotive. - Strong attention to detail and a deep sense of build quality and safety.
- Ability to read CAD, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Hands‑on experience with common tools, fixtures, soldering, torque, etc.
- Move fast, stay organized, and take pride in solving problems in real time.
- Comfortable working in a fluid, high‑urgency environment with evolving designs and short timelines.
- Experience with robotic arms, actuators, or complex mechatronic subsystems.
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or other issue‑tracking tools.
- Experience supporting test or validation environments.
