AboutThe Role
We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in our London office. This role is part of our wider Sustainability Group, present in every Hoare Lea office across the country, providing a diverse sustainability consultancy service that promotes sustainable development across all sectors.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:- Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.) from early design stages through to completion.
- Support the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
- Undertake a range of modelling and analysis—including embodied carbon of materials, circular economy opportunities, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, and overheating.
- Support the development of energy strategies with clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.
- Support the training of graduate members of the team.
- Contribute to the development of junior team members.
- Collaborate with other members on research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.
- Engage directly with industry on research and development studies and authoring industry guidance, providing opportunities to influence the industry.
You are likely to have knowledge and competence in a selection of the following areas:
- BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments
- Bespoke sustainability charters
- Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports, and circular economy statements
- Whole‑life carbon assessments using One Click or other methodologies
- Energy strategies
- Building Regulations Part L assessments using Elmhurst and IES
- In‑Use energy modelling and assessment
- Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort and overheating risk assessments
- Net‑zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations
- Experience working within the built environment sector.
- Currently working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy, seeking a new challenge at a leading practice.
- A degree in an applicable field and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
- A willingness to be part of a dynamic team within a progressive and well‑respected firm.
- Good communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a team environment.
- Serious commitment to sustainability.
