We are looking for an experienced Staff Chief Engineer to join cruise vessel MISTUI OCEAN FUJI
, embarkation 24/January/2026
. The contract is 3 months on/off. Candidates must have all valid certificates, good references/recommendations, and extensive experience as a Staff Engineer.

Position Summary

Assists the Chief Engineer in all technical, mechanical, electrical and environmental matters.

Ensures that all systems and equipment of every subdivision of the technical department are operating correctly and are maintained to the highest possible standards to support safe navigation, complying with company policies, national or international standards and public health regulations.

Ensures proper coordination and cooperation with different technical parties and departments.

Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Chief Engineer.

Subordinates – Engine Officers and ratings.

Safety Duties

Participates in crew safety drills as instructed.

Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.

Leads by example by caring for Health and Safety of self and others.

Ensures correct use of work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices. Provides training, guidance and supervision as needed.

Education / Experience / Qualifications

Valid STCW
95 certification.

Valid CoC A-III/2.

Appropriate certification as required by regulations.

Extensive experience as a Staff Engineer is essential.

Strong ability to detect and identify the cause of machinery faults.

Physically and medically fit.

Moral integrity required.

Public Health, Sanitation and Environmental training courses.

Alaska experience is a plus.

Public Health, Coast Guard and Port State Control experience.

Language Requirements

Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board. Additional languages are considered beneficial.

Computer Knowledge

Good knowledge of AMOS and Microsoft Office applications.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Requires standing, walking long distances, reaching, and sitting. Includes repetitive motion, climbing ladders, lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs. Overtime work and irregular schedules are expected. Work environment includes Engine Control Room, Engine spaces with noise, light traffic, distracting environments, and office settings.
