Principal Contaminated Land / Geo-Environmental Consultant
Join WSP as a Principal Contaminated Land / Geo-Environmental Consultant to support contaminated land assessment and remediation projects across the UK.
Job DescriptionAt WSP, you will work on landmark projects and develop your career in a flexible hybrid environment. The role focuses on delivering high-quality site investigations, data analysis, and technical reports within a safety‑first culture.
Key Responsibilities- Project and task management.
- Management of site investigations and supervision of field work including soil logging, environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling and ground gas monitoring.
- Data collation, review and interpretation.
- Preparation and review of technical reports: desk studies, ground investigation reports, remediation options appraisals and verification reports.
- Site investigation design.
- Development of client relationships.
- Ensure all work complies with procedures and safety, health and environmental standards.
- Support early careers professionals.
- Knowledge of planning, designing and managing site investigations.
- Understanding of CDM Regulations and the land contamination regime in the UK.
- Experience in quantitative risk assessment, waste and material management, radiological characterisation, hydrogeology, remediation.
- Strong report writing and data handling, including GIS.
- Understanding of regulatory regimes such as planning, environmental permitting, due diligence, nuclear site end states, GRR, and EIA.
- Relevant technical degree (chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, environmental science).
- Working towards or prepared to work towardsship or a Professional Qualification (e.g., QP).
- Ability to travel across the UK.
