Highways Engineer

Overview

Our client, a prominent London Borough in North London, is seeking a dedicated Highways Engineer on a contract basis to join their Design and Delivery Team. This role involves delivering the design and construction of new schemes within the highways discipline.

• Delivering a range of projects from inception to completion through the application of specialist skills
• Conducting inspections and surveys to assess project requirements
• Performing feasibility and options studies for proposed projects
• Managing projects, including budgetary and financial control
• Designing and supervising the construction of highway schemes
• Providing expert advice on environmental and civil engineering design
• Managing highway maintenance and asset management issues
• Maintaining effective contract management and site supervision
• Simultaneously delivering multiple complex projects or work programmes

• Experience in highway maintenance and asset management
• Expertise in delivering schemes within an urban environment
• Knowledge of environmental and civil engineering design principles
• Ability to perform project inspections, surveys, and feasibility studies
• Proficiency in project management and financial control
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
• HNC/BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification and expertise
