Principal Systems Engineer – IC Resources

My client is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to support a defence programme based in West London. This is a 6‑month contract, outside IR35, working on complex hardware‑centric systems within a regulated, safety‑critical environment. Hybrid working is available.

Requirements

• Lead and support requirements capture, analysis and decomposition, ensuring traceability throughout the system lifecycle
• Develop and maintain system architectures and design artefacts, with a strong focus on hardware systems
• Work across the full V‑model lifecycle, including system definition, design, implementation, integration, verification and validation (V&V)
• Define and support verification and validation strategies, plans and acceptance criteria
• Interface with hardware, electronics, mechanical and test engineering teams to ensure system‑level coherence
• Ensure compliance with relevant defence, regulatory and quality standards
• Support technical reviews, design reviews and lifecycle gates
• Contribute to risk identification, mitigation and technical decision‑making at system level
• Candidates must have active SC clearance to be considered
