Job DescriptionOur Ground Engineering team in the UK & Ireland provides services ranging from feasibility studies to ground investigation design and construction supervision. Projects include energy, water, nuclear, power, road, rail, aviation, ports, and more.
Responsibilities- Desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mapping
- Contribute to the design, planning and procurement of ground investigations
- Supervise ground investigation fieldwork
- Interpret geological data and prepare reports
- Analyse geotechnical data, prepare ground models and design foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, earthworks and rock slope stabilisation
- Use digital tools such as Open ground, Leapfrog and other 2D/3D analysis software
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology/Geology with 2:1 or above
- Advanced MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is an advantage
- Competent in Microsoft Office; ability to use AutoCAD/Civil 3D desirable
- Geotechnical work experience preferred but not essential
- Willingness to work towards professional qualifications (through ICE, IOM3 or the Geological Society)
- Strong interest in geotechnical projects and promotion of geotechnical activities with clients
- Flexible and willing to work away from home on sites and occasionally in other offices
- Motivated to meet client and business expectations, considering financial and commercial implications
- Effective communicator with colleagues and clients, both verbally and in writing
- Capability to structure & prioritise work, cooperate within the team, and work independently
