THE ROLE

We are looking for a talented and ambitious mechanical engineer or industrial product designer who thrives in high‑intensity, high‑impact environments. You will join our hardware team, but as an early‑stage startup, you will have the opportunity to touch many aspects of the company.

You will be responsible for further developing our working prototypes towards mass production, ensuring the device is not only functional but also comfortable, ergonomic, and visually appealing. In addition, you will be conducting research and development of the core sensor technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership:
Lead the mechanical design process, focusing on technical performance, comfort, aesthetics, and Design for Manufacture (DFM), with an emphasis on precision and miniaturization.
  • CAD:
Rapidly develop CAD models to progress existing prototypes into commercial‑grade wearable devices.
  • R&D:
Use initiative to research and develop core sensor technology.
  • Supply Chain:
Lead sourcing efforts and manage the bill of materials (BOM).
  • Prototyping & Production:
Lead prototyping and transition to mass manufacturing, including in‑house fabrication using FDM/SLA 3D.
  • Product Design:
Proven experience in designing and developing commercial‑grade products.
  • CAD & DFM:
Excellence in 3D CAD and DFM.
  • Prototyping & Production:
Excellent prototyping skills and workflows (3D printing, CNC, hand finishing) and knowledge of mass manufacturing processes.
  • Material Science:
Excellent industrial materials knowledge and an intuitive understanding of material science and engineering principles.
  • Startup Mindset:
Flexibility to contribute to different areas as needed in a fast‑growth startup, such as the hands‑on fabrication of prototypes.
  • Soft Skills:

Excellent problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication and project management abilities.
  • Drive:
Ability to maintain focus and motivation in a high‑intensity, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Location:

    commutable distance to Hammersmith.
  • Lifecycle

    Experience:

Experience developing products through the full lifecycle from initial concept to successful mass production.
  • Global Manufacturing:
Experience managing overseas manufacturers and complex supply chains.
  • Advanced Fabrication:
Knowledge of pioneering and precision prototyping materials and processes, such as Micro‑CNC.
  • Advanced Modeling:
Experience with FEA or other advanced modeling tools.
  • Specialist Expertise:
Experience with wearable electronics, smart devices, medical devices, or assistive technology.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to join an early‑stage, fast‑growing deep‑tech startup.
  • Direct contribution to the R&D of a next‑generation wearable.
  • Exposure to the full product lifecycle, from concept to mass manufacturing.
  • Salary + Equity Package.
  • 28 days holiday (including bank holidays).
