Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to lead a major cloud transformation initiative for a leading specialty insurer. This pivotal role will set the strategic direction for cloud adoption, drive migration from on-premises to Azure, and define the business approach to cloud optimisation. You will work with senior stakeholders and technical teams to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud solutions.

The ideal candidate will combine deep Azure expertise with broad cloud knowledge and strong architecture awareness to influence technology decisions.

Location:

Hybrid - 3x per week in London

Duration: 6 months

Day Rate: £650-£750 per day Inside IR35

• Define and implement cloud strategy, focusing on Azure.
• Lead migration from on-premises to cloud and guide technology selection.
• Design high-level and low-level architectures for cloud solutions.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to optimize services and enable growth.
• Act as a technical authority on Azure and cloud-native technologies.
• Engineer solutions using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and scripting languages.
• Support and upskill internal teams, ensuring best practices are followed.

• Minimum 5+ years in cloud engineering and architecture roles.
• Proven experience in Azure cloud engineering and architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Azure services (PaaS, Serverless, IaaS).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-305, AZ-400).
• Broader architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF).
