Job Description Product Engineer, Digital Overview of job

Your product development and performance experience will also be required when you are asked to provide advice on existing product / new product.

You will need to visit suppliers and assess the product and their capability, undertaking assessments to ensure compliance to HSEQ standards.

You should expect to be on site as required, this could be all week or just a day.

This role reaches across the operational business and across the UK, from our clients / landlords, Partnerships to handover into operations. Whilst this is a product engineering role, a commercial / operational mind is required.

You will be part of a small team of technical experts within the business and will be supported by thewider engineering, project and programmes team.

Measures of success –

In the first fewmonths, you would have :

• Understood the business, the team and what we do

Fully understand the Global goals and understand how they align to the projects you are accountable for

Commenced your journey on stakeholder engagement and be building key relationships internally and externally

• Have worked up your 90 daydevelopment plan

Started to deliver against the product development journey, by reaching out to suppliers and have agreed initial developments.

Report monthly on number of suppliers / conversations held.

Understand the budget available and what that budget could potentially deliver.

Responsibilities of the role

• Understand what product is available in the market, by knowledge of current partner assets / internet & social reviews and also by making new contacts.
• Develop new product for the outdoor business – digital product (LCD / LED)
• Management of full life cycle of the product development, ensure collaboration between relevant people to deliver the product.
• Challenge the specification / engineering approach of others to ensure the most efficient and economical solution is achieved.
• Requesting costs from the supplier thenassist in preparing business case to approve the R&D spend.
• Be confident and competent when communicating with all stakeholders and seniors within the business.
• Engage with stakeholders (internal and external), understanding what may cause issues / risk to the project

Provide updates into the Programmes team

Ensure each project / product development is delivered within the defined programmes and assurance.

Understand product performance (MTBF and obsolescence) and how that can be managed throughout the product lifecycle.

Deputise for the Chief Engineer when required.

What you will need

• Understanding and proposing product challenges within our environments
• Challenge the supplier on product performance and be able to evaluate product failure trends.
• Understand the importance of defined project plan to work to.
• Understand risk and how that is priced and managed during the product development.
• Capable and experienced in mechanical / electrical / physical product development
• To ensure you have the correct understanding of the engineering challenges we face, you will ideally be degree educated in Mechanical / Electrical / Product Engineering.
• A good understanding of product development having understakena product development role.
