Principal Designer (CDM) & Health & Safety Advisor
Location: Birmingham or London
Salary: Up to £70k + package
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Principal Designer (CDM) & Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading consultancy delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK.
You will work across sectors including Residential, Commercial, Education, Mixed-Use, and Fire Remediation projects
, supporting schemes ranging from £5m to £50m+. The role offers exposure to technically challenging projects where embedding health and safety and fire safety from design through construction is critical.
- Act as Principal Designer across large-scale, complex construction and fire remediation projects.
- Produce CDM documentation, including Pre-Construction Information and Design Risk Registers.
- Review contractor Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Construction Phase Plans.
- Advise clients and project teams on CDM 2015 compliance, fire safety regulations, and best practice.
- Conduct site visits and audits, providing actionable Health & Safety and fire safety recommendations.
- Collate and maintain Health and Safety Files.
- Support the wider Health & Safety team and act as a key point of contact for CDM/H&S and fire matters.
- Contribute to business development, including client engagement and bid preparation.
- Proven experience as a Principal Designer on large-scale construction and fire remediation projects.
- NEBOSH Construction qualification, CSCS card, and full UK driving licence.
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations, fire safety, construction processes, and RIBA stages.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to manage workload proactively.
- Principal Designer CDM qualification.
- Incorporated Member of the Association of Project Safety (MIPS).
- Experience delivering Principal Designer Building Regulations projects.
