OverviewRWE Renewables is offering a 3‑year apprenticeship scheme to develop wind turbine technicians for the London Array Offshore Windfarm. The first two years involve classroom training at IPS International in Rochester, followed by one year of on‑site training at the windfarm operating from Ramsgate.
Responsibilities- Electro/Mechanical problem solving of wind turbines at height and in remote locations using user manuals as reference
- Work with advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment in a safe manner
- Plan tools, spares, and materials required for each job to be completed
- Fault find and diagnose wind turbine main components to decide whether a repair can be performed on site or the unit requires exchange
- Engage in ongoing personal development and training to become a multi‑skilled technician covering inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbines
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including Science, Maths and English
- Willing to learn and develop professionally
- Able to work at height and at sea
- Willing to work shifts and be on standby or on call as required
- Must live within an hour of the site
- Live in the UK
Salary: £17,510 in the 1st year, rising incrementally each year in line with internal pay scales and the national minimum wage.
Benefits include pension and private single medical cover. Public holidays and 25 days of paid holiday (outside of term time) are provided.
Accommodation & TravelTerm‑time accommodation with payment of rent and utilities during the first two years, plus travel expenses for two journeys per month between Ramsgate and the term‑time address.
Daily transport to college is paid for unless group travel is provided by RWE, and a weekly allowance is paid for food and drink while away from home.
