The Role
As Subject Lead – Foundation (Games), you will provide academic leadership for the development and delivery of the foundation curriculum within our Games programmes. You will work closely with the Course Director and Associate Dean to ensure high-quality teaching, strong industry relevance and an exceptional student experience.
You will also contribute to the ongoing growth of the programme by shaping curriculum design, supporting innovative teaching practices and maintaining links with the games industry.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development and delivery of foundation-level games modules.
- Teach across relevant subject areas within Games Development.
- Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and academic quality.
- Support curriculum development and contribute to programme growth.
- Provide academic leadership and mentorship to colleagues within the teaching team.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to improved retention, attainment and progression.
- Build and maintain industry connections to enhance the curriculum and student opportunities.
- Contribute to student recruitment activities, events, showcases and industry engagement.
- Participate in research, scholarship or industry practice to maintain subject expertise.

- Game Engines (Unity, Unreal Engine)
- Game Programming and Scripting
- Narrative and Interactive Storytelling
- UX/UI for Games
- Production Pipelines and Agile Development
- Emerging Technologies (AR/VR, AI)
Essential:
- Degree in Games Design, Games Art, Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
- Teaching qualification (PGCert or equivalent)
- Experience teaching in Higher Education
- Strong knowledge of industry tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender or Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience in curriculum development and module design
Desirable:
- Industry experience within a games studio or as an independent developer
- Experience supervising student projects or production teams
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (or working towards it)
- Knowledge of emerging trends in the games industry
- Be part of a creative and forward-thinking academic community
- Help shape an evolving games curriculum
- Work with motivated students pursuing careers in the creative industries
- Collaborate with colleagues who are passionate about innovative teaching and real-world learning
