Job DescriptionPost 16 Education Sufficiency Officer
£52,194 to £55,323 per annum
We are looking for a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join the Education Access and Sufficiency service to ensure that a range of services are in place to enable all children to access a suitable education, including ensuring a sufficient supply of high‑quality early years, school and 16‑19 places.
As the Post 16 Education Sufficiency Officer you will be responsible for the production of accurate projections for secondary, post‑16 and 0‑25 SEND pupil numbers, ensuring the local authority meets its statutory responsibility of providing sufficient high‑quality school places.
Service Objectives and Responsibilities- Take operational responsibility for the integration of Post 16 sufficiency into the 5‑19 place planning forecasts and 0‑25 SEND forecasts.
- Act as the Council’s specialist key officer for sufficient and appropriate education Post 16 places and alternative provision, including strategic planning, service delivery and partnership management.
- Lead on providing incisive high‑level and granular analysis of Post 16 student numbers, including 0‑25 SEND and alternative provision, and provide recommendations to support place planning for the commissioning of additional specialist provision.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver within statutory timescales under pressure.
- Proven experience in pupil place and Post 16 place planning with a strong track record of effective analysis and management of complex data.
- Expert knowledge of 5‑19 education place planning, 0‑25 SEND provision, school organisation and admissions guidance & legislation.
- Experience working with admissions and SEND officers, and the ability to produce clear, well‑evidenced reports.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build constructive relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Proactive and collaborative approach, combining technical knowledge with a focus on building strong relationships with schools and senior officers.
