Teacher of Modern Languages – Permanent, Full-time

We are looking for a well‑qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated graduate to join our dynamic department. This permanent, full‑time position will start in September 2025 and will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent day and boarding schools, set in an attractive 48‑acre parkland site in South Croydon. We offer a unique, tailor‑made education for boys aged 10‑18, outstanding facilities, a record of academic achievement, superb sports and performing arts programmes, and excellent pastoral care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Modern Languages to A‑Level and GCSE standard.
  • Promote a collaborative learning culture and maintain high standards.
  • Motivate and enthuse young learners to achieve their best.
  • Plan and prepare lessons, manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Contribute fully to the co‑curricular life of the school.
  • Support and develop pastoral care for students.
Qualifications
  • Excellent subject knowledge in Chinese, French, German or Spanish.
  • Ability to teach one language at A‑Level and a second at GCSE.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resilience under pressure, problem‑solving and classroom management skills.
  • Qualified teacher or eligible for Initial Teacher Training programme.
