Exams Officer

Actual Salary: £32,275 - £35,693 (based on actual weeks worked)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £35,852 - £39,649 (CLF Grade

E) based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent, Term time only, plus inset days and two additional weeks.

Hours of work: Full Time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Additional role info: Working Pattern = Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours per day 8am to 4pm with 30‑minute lunch & Friday 7 hours 8am to 3.30pm with 30‑minute lunch.

Play a vital role in helping students reach their potential through outstanding exams provision.

To be successful in the post, we are looking for an Exams Officer with the passion and drive to make a difference to the lives of young people, for them to thrive and reach their potential with high quality examinations provision. The role will involve managing and leading a team of exam assistants across a double exam centre. This covers John Cabot Academy (11‑16) and CLF Post 16 (16‑19), both based on the same school site in Kingswood, Bristol.

The centre offers the full range of examinations and qualifications, working across a wide range of exam boards and levels of awards. The team are experts and hold extensive knowledge surrounding the complexity and challenges of examinations held in this school setting.

We are currently advertising both an Exams Officer role and Senior Exams Officer role at the same time. We have the flexibility to appoint to either role level, but we only have one role to offer overall. We will appoint the successful candidate to the role that best aligns with their interest, skills and experience. About

You

You’ll have:

  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of exam board rules, specifications, JCQ guidance, relevant legislation and/or demonstration of an ability to maintain awareness of a specific subject area and apply it in a practical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at NVQ level 4 in business and administration or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal, good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure or during unexpected circumstances.
  • A caring and understanding attitude, sensitive and responsive to the needs of our students.
  • Capabilities to work as part of a team but also under own initiative.
Desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of the full range of examinations and qualifications across multiple key stages (KS4 & KS5) and work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Significant experience working as an Exams Officer within a secondary school.

The CLF Post 16 Academy is situated in South Gloucestershire, hosted at John Cabot Academy, and serves the students of Bristol across two local authorities. We are a centre of education for ages 16‑19 offering a range of level 1, 2 and 3 vocational courses and a full breadth of A Level qualifications.
