SEN Teacher – Primary Class (KS1:
KS2, SEND).
Location:
Kingsbury, North London.
Contract:
Full-Time.
Start Date:
September 2025.
Teach and manage a small class of non‑verbal pupils aged 6 to 10 using AAC methods (objects of reference, visual supports, gestures, MACATON, and iPad‑based communication tools). Plan and deliver an individualised, engaging curriculum focusing on communication, sensory regulation, and personal development. Lead a multidisciplinary team including LSAs and therapists, ensuring the holistic needs of each pupil are met. Support pupils with ASD, Down Syndrome and other profiles.
Work collaboratively with families and specialists to implement and review behaviour strategies, communication goals, and personal care routines. Support students with personal care, including toileting and changing, and ensure protocols for medical needs including seizure management. Create a structured, nurturing environment that promotes emotional regulation, independence and confidence. Uphold safeguarding, inclusion and care standards.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)
- Experience working with students with complex SEND, including autism, learning difficulties and non‑verbal communication
- Confidence in, or willingness to develop, skills in AAC and behaviour support strategies
- Solid understanding of sensory processing, communication development and inclusive practice
- Collaborative, flexible, compassionate approach to teaching
- Small class sizes and high staff: pupil ratio
- On‑site therapeutic and behavioural support teams
