Art Teacher - Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Harrow - Part-Time (0.6 FTE)

Start: ASAP
Hours: 3 days per week (Wednesday to Friday)
Location: Harrow, London

About the School

This is a dynamic Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) supporting students who may not thrive in mainstream education. Students have a range of needs, including:

  • Behavioural challenges that may lead to exclusion or risk of exclusion

  • Medical or mental health conditions preventing regular school attendance

  • Special educational needs (SEN), such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism

  • Social and emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, or trauma

The Role

An enthusiastic and experienced Art Teacher is sought to join the team and help establish the Art curriculum from scratch. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, creative lessons that inspire students while building confidence, skills, and enjoyment in the subject.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Art lessons for secondary-aged students

  • Develop and implement a new Art curriculum tailored to the PRU environment

  • Support students with behavioural, social, emotional, and SEN needs

  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate Art across the wider curriculum

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching in a PRU, alternative provision, or SEN setting

  • Strong knowledge of the Art & Design curriculum and the ability to develop provision from the ground up

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

  • Commitment to supporting students with complex needs
