Job Summary

The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of NCG for dependable and hands-on College Caretakers to support site operations across Southwark College, Lewisham College, and the NCG Higher Education Centre in London.

This role is essential in helping maintain a safe, secure, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will support the smooth day-to-day running of the campus by assisting with site maintenance, security, and facilities support.

About the Role

As a College Caretaker, you will:

• Support the general upkeep of college buildings and grounds

• Carry out basic maintenance and minor repair tasks

• Assist with opening and closing the college site where required

• Ensure facilities remain safe, clean, and secure

• Set up rooms, classrooms, and event spaces

• Conduct basic site inspections and report maintenance issues

• Support the estates and facilities teams with daily operations

• Follow health and safety procedures across the site

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience in caretaking, facilities, or maintenance roles

• Good practical skills and a proactive approach to problem solving

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Good communication skills

• Awareness of basic health and safety practices

Desirable

• Experience working within schools, colleges, or education environments

• Basic maintenance or DIY skills

• Relevant health and safety training
