Sydenham High School – a Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) selected school – is looking for an exceptional leader to join our Languages Department and develop this dynamic and strong department to maintain high academic expectations and contribute significantly to our community.
Responsibilities & Duties- Develop and lead the Languages Department, maintaining high academic standards.
- Teach and support students in foreign languages (French, Spanish, Italian, German) from Year 7 to Year 13.
- Plan and deliver curriculum for GCSE and A Level, including first and second language provision in Year 7.
- Use Clevertouch screens, course‑specific textbooks and digital platforms to support learning.
- Encourage and inspire students to achieve success, enjoyment and satisfaction in their studies.
- Organise co‑curricular clubs, local and overseas trips in languages.
- Lead professional development and digital skill enhancement for staff.
- Recruit and support staff, run assessments, and enter students for GCSEs and A Levels.
- Significant teaching experience and leadership in a selective school setting.
- Strong knowledge of the AQA curriculum for GCSE and A Level languages.
- Ability to offer a second language would be an advantage.
- Digital literate and enthusiastic about personal digital development.
- Willingness to undergo child protection checks (online searches, Disclosure and Barring Service).
Permanent, full time. Starting salary will depend on experience and qualifications.
