Lecturer in Discrete Mathematics or Computer Science
Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a permanent lecturer to join our School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences this Autumn term 2026.
Salary and BenefitsSalary range: £44,247 rising to £60,858 per annum. Salary is Grade LLEC on the College's London Pay Scale.

Contract and Working ConditionsContract type:
Open ended full‑time contract (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
Mode:
Full time; starting September 2026.

School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences.
Location:
Bloomsbury area, London. Visa sponsorship available.

- JD – Lecturer in Discrete Mathematics or Computer (PDF, 235.55 kb)
- Teach and inspire students across various settings, from small tutorials to large lectures.
- Develop and deliver engaging teaching materials and methods, and convene modules.
- Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance.
- Engage in research activities and contribute to the school's research objectives.
- Participate in outreach and engagement activities to enhance public understanding of your discipline and/or contribute to school administration and management.
- Be an experienced researcher, holding a PhD or equivalent in Discrete Mathematics or Computer Science.
- Have experience in teaching and leading modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Possess thorough knowledge of different teaching methods and strategies appropriate to Mathematics and Computer Science.
- Have effective communication and presentation skills.
- Show a commitment to diversity and be able to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
