Job Title and Location

Havering Adult College – Sessional Teacher (Level 1–3 Early Years/Teaching Assistant) – Locations:
Bower Park Centre, Romford and Brittons Centre, Rainham.

About The Job

Part‑time sessions teaching Early Years/TA courses. Schedule negotiated; daytime/evening. Prepare and deliver lessons, provide assessment feedback, record learning, support learner engagement and motivation. Utilise e‑learning and promote new teaching methods.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare and deliver teaching sessions for Early Years/Teaching Assistant courses at Level 1–3.
  • Assess learner progress, provide meaningful feedback and maintain assessment records.
  • Conduct pre‑course interviews to ensure learners are enrolled at the correct level.
  • Research, develop and use teaching resources, including e‑learning, to maintain high standards.
  • Engage, motivate and support learners, promoting new methods of teaching and learning.
  • Undertake own travel to and from delivery centres.
Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria
  • Extensive experience of teaching within the Vocational Teaching Assistant/Early Years qualifications.
  • Experience using MS Office applications.
  • Assessor certificate – TAQA 3 or equivalent.
  • IQA certificate – TAQA 4 or equivalent (desirable).
  • Experience of mentoring.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • A Level 4 Teaching Qualification for post‑compulsory settings (e.g. CTLLS or CET) as a minimum.
  • GCSE Grade 9–5 in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Willings to gain teaching qualification and assessor certificate if not yet held.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience working with diverse and challenging learner groups.
  • Experience of internal quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of the local area and community.
Salary and Benefits

Hourly rate up to £28.78, depending on qualification and course level. Professional development courses are available, including Level 3 and Level 4 awards in Education and Training. Havering Rewards provides discount cards and vouchers.
