The role:
A welcoming and supportive SEMH Secondary School in Enfield is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a structured and inclusive environment, supporting students with social, emotional and mental health needs.
You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to help pupils engage positively with learning and achieve meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities- 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs
- Support students both in and out of the classroom
- Assist with behaviour regulation, engagement and emotional support
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and behaviour support plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Build strong, professional relationships with pupils
- Support learning activities and classroom management
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
- Experience working with children or young people (education, SEN, youth work, care or similar)
- Confident supporting pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Reliable and committed to long‑term work
- Team Teach training desirable (training can be provided)
- Long‑term opportunity with potential for permanent placement
