Role Overview
The Lecturer / Tutor – Carpentry will deliver and develop high-quality teaching across carpentry programmes, supporting learners to achieve their educational and vocational goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver carpentry teaching across full-time and part-time programmes
* Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) following initial assessment
* Monitor learner progress, achievement, and attendance
* Assess learner work and provide academic and vocational guidance
* Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and course improvement
* Support learner welfare, progression, and retention
* Act as an assessor in line with awarding body and centre requirements
* Attend programme, team, and review meetings as required
Tutorial and Coordination (where applicable)
* Deliver 1:1 and group tutorials
* Maintain up-to-date ILPs
* Support assessment boards and course team meetings
Requirements
Essential
* Relevant carpentry qualification or equivalent, with teaching or training experience
* Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to achieve FE teaching qualifications
* Up-to-date carpentry industry knowledge
* Strong communication, organisation, and learner management skills
* Commitment to equality, safeguarding, and inclusive practice
Desirable
* Degree or postgraduate teaching qualification
* Experience of course or programme management
* CPD linked to teaching or carpentry practice
