Overview

The Maths Department at Sydenham High is a dynamic and strong department comprising a mixture of full-time and part-time staff, some with other responsibilities in the school. In a selective school, it is a pleasure to stimulate and inspire the pupils’ bright and alert minds, and Maths is a popular subject with strong numbers at A Level. The department employs a variety of teaching methods to meet the aim of encouraging every girl to find success, enjoyment and satisfaction in their studies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic classroom practitioner with proficiency in teaching Maths from KS3 to KS5 to contribute to the academic and personal development of our pupils. You will have an innovative understanding of teaching and learning and high expectations of all pupils’ achievements. Ideally the candidate will show considerable initiative and be prepared to innovate both in the classroom and in the field.

Staff are expected to be digitally literate and are encouraged to develop their personal digital skills. Experience teaching Further Maths would be advantageous.

• Deliver Maths teaching to pupils from KS3 to KS5, using a variety of teaching methods to support high standards of attainment.

• Contribute to the academic and personal development of pupils and foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

• Maintain high expectations of all pupils and promote engagement, resilience and independent learning.

• Be digitally literate and continue to develop personal digital skills; use appropriate technology to enhance learning.

• Ideally contribute to or develop Further Maths provision where possible.

• Dynamic classroom practitioner with proficiency in teaching Maths from KS3 to KS5.

• Experience teaching Further Maths would be advantageous.

• Initiative, ability to innovate in the classroom and in school practice.

• Strong commitment to the school’s ethos and to the education of girls in a selective setting.
