About the RoleThis is a unique and rewarding opportunity to teach within a small, specialist SEMH provision supporting pupils in Years 1 and 2, embedded within an inclusive mainstream primary school. The provision offers short‑to‑medium‑term, intensive support for a small number of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, with the clear aim of successful reintegration into mainstream learning.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver high‑quality, adaptive teaching informed by EYFS principles and the KS1 curriculum
- Create a calm, structured and emotionally safe learning environment
- Use relational, restorative and trauma‑informed approaches to support behaviour, wellbeing and engagement
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, positive relationships and engagement with learning
- Work collaboratively with families, class teachers and leaders to plan and support successful transitions back into mainstream classes
- Monitor progress and tailor provision to meet pupils' academic, social and emotional needs
- A qualified primary teacher with experience or a strong interest in SEMH and inclusion
- Confident in working with pupils who require a highly structured and nurturing approach
- Skilled in small‑group teaching and personalised learning
- Calm, patient and resilient, with a strong commitment to pupil wellbeing
- A collaborative team player who values strong relationships with staff and families
