About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic Alternative Provision school in Tower Hamlets. This setting supports students who require a more personalised and therapeutic learning environment, often due to behavioural, social, or emotional needs.

As a Behaviour Support TA, you will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with learning by building trust, encouraging positive choices, and providing calm, consistent support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support to pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches
  • Support teaching staff in maintaining a positive, structured learning environment
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external agencies where required
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress
  • Contribute to behaviour plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding practices
Requirements
  • Strong behaviour management skills — essential
  • Experience working within Alternative Provisions, PRUs, mainstream SEN settings, or with challenging behaviour
  • Calm, resilient, and patient approach
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain firm but fair boundaries
  • Team player with a proactive mindset
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
