Salary: £32,000 up to £35,000 dependent upon experience

The Role

The Communications Officer supports the delivery of high-quality communications and engagement activities aligned with organisational priorities. Working under the direction of senior team leaders, the Officer assists with digital content initiatives, website updates, and accessibility compliance, ensuring outputs are consistent, integrated, and user focused. The role contributes to maintaining accurate, engaging content across channels and supports the coordination of communications across priority areas.

  • Assist in implementing content strategies aligned with organisational communications goals
  • Support day-to-day digital content requests, ensuring website content is accurate, accessible, and engaging
  • Coordinate updates to web pages and digital platforms under the guidance of senior specialists
  • Provide guidance on accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) when preparing content
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and ensure content accuracy
  • Help manage content request systems, maintaining audit trails and version control
  • Monitor basic content performance metrics and report findings to senior team leaders
  • Assist in managing digital consultations and stakeholder engagement activities as directed
About You

To be considered for the role you will need to have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Experience in digital content creation and familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and subject matter experts
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines
  • Basic analytical skills to support content performance reporting
Additional Information

For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.

BPSS: To be vetted you must have the right to work in the UK so that meaningful checks can be undertaken.

Relocation & Property

The CAA will be relocating from Aviation House (Our Gatwick Office) to new premises in a few years’ time. Our move is driven by strategic, operational and environmental considerations.

We will be moving to a new local home, up to a 15-mile radius of Aviation House, to minimise disruption for our valued colleagues and customers.

We are now working with colleagues and visitors to understand what we need in our new office, before we start our property search. We will sell Aviation House and land, vacate the site and move to new premises, but we do not expect to move before 2028
