Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Temporary)
SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 2 (1:1 Support)

Teach Now Recruitment is working in partnership with a warm, inclusive and highly supportive primary school in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term role starting in February 2026.

This is a 1:1 SEN TA position supporting a Year 2 pupil, ideal for someone who is patient, nurturing and confident supporting children with additional needs in a primary school setting.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent, calm and positive support throughout the school day.

Your role will be key in helping the pupil to access learning, manage transitions and feel safe, supported and engaged in the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with additional needs

• Supporting learning in phonics, literacy and numeracy

• Assisting with emotional regulation, routines and transitions

• Encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction with peers

• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team

• Supporting both academic progress and emotional wellbeing

About You

This role would suit someone who:

• Has previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN TA in a primary school

• Has supported pupils with Autism (ASD), ADHD, behaviour needs, emotional regulation or speech and language difficulties

• Is calm, patient, resilient and nurturing in their approach

• Has strong communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team

• Is reliable and able to commit to a long-term placement

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)

• Have the right to work in the UK

• Have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection

• Be able to commit to the role from February 2026

• Any additional SEN training or relevant qualifications will be highly valued.
