Family Support Worker - PRU Setting - Islington
January Start - up to £125 a day
5 days a week - Full time
Long Term Futures are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington to appoint a Family Support Worker to support vulnerable students and their families. This role is ideal for a compassionate and proactive individual who can build trust, improve behaviour outcomes, and strengthen family engagement with education.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide targeted support to families and children with complex needs, working closely with school staff and external agencies
- Build strong, consistent relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour and improved engagement in school
- Assist in identifying barriers to learning and support families in accessing appropriate services
- Deliver tailored interventions and work closely with parents/carers to improve attendance, punctuality and home-school communication
- Support children within the school day, working alongside pastoral staff and behaviour mentors
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and multi‑agency planning where appropriate
- Experience working with children and families in educational or social care settings
- Understanding of SEMH, behavioural needs, and trauma‑informed approaches
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage hard‑to‑reach families
- A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to support and intervention
- Experience with in a PRU or alternative provision is highly desirable
- Accessible via Angel and Highbury & Islington stations
- Served by local bus routes: 4, 19, 38, 56, 341
- Easy access from surrounding boroughs
- Weekly competitive pay - up to £120 per day
