Family Support Worker - PRU Setting - Islington

January Start - up to £125 a day

5 days a week - Full time

Long Term Futures are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington to appoint a Family Support Worker to support vulnerable students and their families. This role is ideal for a compassionate and proactive individual who can build trust, improve behaviour outcomes, and strengthen family engagement with education.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to families and children with complex needs, working closely with school staff and external agencies
  • Build strong, consistent relationships with students to encourage positive behaviour and improved engagement in school
  • Assist in identifying barriers to learning and support families in accessing appropriate services
  • Deliver tailored interventions and work closely with parents/carers to improve attendance, punctuality and home-school communication
  • Support children within the school day, working alongside pastoral staff and behaviour mentors
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and multi‑agency planning where appropriate
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working with children and families in educational or social care settings
  • Understanding of SEMH, behavioural needs, and trauma‑informed approaches
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage hard‑to‑reach families
  • A calm, resilient and empathetic approach to support and intervention
  • Experience with in a PRU or alternative provision is highly desirable
Location & Transport - Islington, London (N1):
  • Accessible via Angel and Highbury & Islington stations
  • Served by local bus routes: 4, 19, 38, 56, 341
