SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Waltham Forest
Full Time | Term Time Only | ASAP Start | Up to £115 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are working with an inclusive and supportive secondary school in Waltham Forest to recruit a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone confident supporting young people who require emotional regulation, behaviour guidance, and consistent support to re-engage with learning. The school has a strong pastoral structure and provides excellent support for staff in long-term roles.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small-group SEMH support across KS3 and KS4
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement
- Implement behaviour and support plans in line with school policy
- Work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team and class teachers
- Promote positive behaviour, inclusion and resilience
- Support students during lessons and unstructured times
- Experience supporting students with SEMH or challenging behaviour
- A calm, resilient and consistent approach
- Confidence working in a secondary school environment
- Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour strategies
- Background in SEN support, youth work, mentoring or care (desirable)
Waltham Forest, East London
- Accessible via Walthamstow Central, Leyton, Leytonstone, Chingford
- Good transport links via Victoria Line, Overground and local buses

- Weekly pay – up to £115 per day

- Long‑term temp‑to‑perm placements only – no daily supply
