VNA Education is working with a high-performing secondary school to appoint an exceptional Deputy Head of English to play a key role in driving strategic subject leadership, curriculum excellence and sustained high outcomes.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced English practitioner ready to step into senior subject leadership or further develop their impact within a large, successful department.

• Provide strategic and operational leadership within the English department.
• Drive curriculum design, implementation and evaluation across KS3 and KS4 (and potentially KS5).
• Secure consistently high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
• Use data and research to identify underperformance and drive improvement.
• Support, coach and develop colleagues, modelling outstanding practice.
• Contribute to wider whole-school priorities and improvement planning.

• Qualified English teacher (QTS) with a strong record of classroom impact.
• Experienced subject leader or aspiring leader ready for increased responsibility.
• Deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and subject pedagogy.
• Confident in using data, research and evaluation to raise standards.
• Credible, collaborative leader with strong professional presence.
• Clear commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations.
