Role OverviewA secondary school in Ealing is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, starting as soon as possible. The role involves working across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting students both in and out of the classroom to help them access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or a graduate looking to gain further experience in a secondary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SEN department, and pastoral teams to provide consistent academic and behavioural support.
Key Responsibilities Classroom Support- Supporting teachers in the delivery of lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives
- Assisting students with understanding tasks, instructions, and subject content
- Supporting students with varying levels of ability, including those with SEN and EAL
- Promoting positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies
- Providing targeted one-to-one and small group support where required
- Encouraging student independence and confidence in learning
- Supporting students with additional needs, including behavioural, emotional, or academic challenges
- Monitoring progress and feeding back to teaching staff
- Assisting with exam preparation and revision activities at KS4 level
- Supporting students’ social and emotional development
- Helping to manage classroom behaviour effectively
- Supervising students during transitions, break times, or interventions when required
- Acting as a positive role model at all times
- Supporting the wider school community as required
- Assisting with administrative and resource preparation tasks
- Attending meetings or training sessions as directed
- Upholding safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged students (KS3 and/or KS4)
- A positive, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
- A good understanding of behaviour management strategies
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
- Experience supporting students with SEN, EAL, or SEMH needs
- Experience working in a secondary school setting
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work
- An interest in progressing into teaching or further education roles
- A supportive and inclusive secondary school environment
