Behaviour Support Assistant

We are recruiting an experienced and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker / Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist all‑through SEND setting supporting pupils aged 4–19 with complex educational needs. The school provides highly individualised, active and sensory‑rich learning experiences designed to help pupils build independence, confidence and essential life skills in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Worker / Behaviour Mentor, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support tailored to individual needs
* Use positive, trauma‑informed and restorative strategies to support emotional regulation, social engagement and readiness to learn
* Work with pupils with severe or profound learning difficulties, Autism (ASC) and associated sensory or communication needs
* Contribute to individual behaviour plans, functional assessments and tailored intervention strategies
* Support pupils to participate in both classroom and therapeutic or life‑skills activities
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure a consistent approach
* Help maintain a safe, calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
* Experience supporting pupils with complex SEN, including Autism, SLD/PMLD or multi‑sensory needs
* A strong understanding of positive behaviour support and de‑escalation techniques
* A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and colleagues
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
